Bytewalk

Privacy Policy

Effective 5 October 2026

Bytewalk is a walking game for iPhone operated by CSuite Code ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app reads, what leaves your phone, and the choices you have. The short version: Bytewalk reads your step count and nothing else from Health, has no ads and no analytics, and sends a daily step total to our server only if you sign in and agree to it.

What stays on your iPhone

As with any internet service, our server receives your IP address when the app connects. It may appear in short-lived server logs that we use for security and troubleshooting.

What we do not do

Who can see what

Members of your crew can see your Scout's name and appearance, your level, your votes and reactions, and that you contributed travel points. They cannot see your step counts. If you opt in to leaderboards, other players can see your Scout's name, frame, level and weekly travel points. A race shows the two sides' weekly travel points to each other.

Where data is kept and who helps us

Game data is stored on a server we operate, hosted by Akamai (Linode). Apple provides sign-in, Health access on your device, purchases, and delivery of notifications, under Apple's own privacy policy. We do not use any other service providers to process your data.

Keeping and deleting data

We keep your account data for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in the app: open Journey, tap the profile button, then "Delete my account and data". This removes your profile, collection, journal, pod, step totals, memberships and subscription status from our server, and signs you out.

After deletion we keep only: purchase records with the link to you removed (a financial record), your crew's shared state so the remaining members can continue, and vote totals that are not linked to a person. Database backups may hold deleted data for a limited time until they are replaced.

Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings.

Your choices

Children

Bytewalk is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data travels between the app and our server over encrypted connections, and access to other players' data is restricted on the server. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update this page and the date above.
